This course provides the rigorous, socio-technical literacy required to recognise how ancient symbolic philosophy and modern machine learning intersect, ensuring that individuals and those in leadership positions can decode the hidden protocols of the systems they deploy.

AI is not an autonomous agent but a “statistically determined reflection” of a specific pipeline of human decisions. From the moment language is shattered into fragments to the silent scripts governing the final output, every layer of construction is an “echo” of human choice.

Every AI output travels through a pipeline of human decisions — tokenisation, vector mapping, attention weighting, fine-tuning, and system prompts. Each layer introduces usage risk.

This course deconstructs that pipeline, layer by layer.

AI represents a new condition where meaning is increasingly mediated by computational systems. These systems do not merely execute tasks; they participate in sensemaking by framing options, synthesising information, and shaping what is perceived as reasonable or credible.

While existing governance, risk, and security frameworks provide necessary downstream controls, they are not designed to address upstream “semantic drift” or the exercise of epistemic authority through AI-mediated constraint. For organisations to remain resilient, they must recognize sensemaking as a distinct domain of capability, ensuring that symbolic, computational, and assurance layers remain aligned and legible.
